Aria

Pronounced Arr-ee-yuh

This little angel was a dream to photograph.

She had a very rough entry into this beautiful world of ours. She was born at 36 weeks weighing 4 lbs. and 8 oz. She has Tracheoesophageal Fistula and Esophageal Atresia (TEF/EA). She had to have surgery right away to attach her trachea to her stomach. After a 53 day stay in the NICU and enduring so much, her parents were finally able to bring her home when she was 8 weeks old. At this newborn photo shoot she was actually 11 weeks old.

But this post isn’t just about little Aria. Her young parents were expecting a healthy baby and were thrown into this unexpected heartache. They experienced so much during their long stay in the hospital. There was loss and grief all around them. In some ways it was a crisis of their faith. But they kept their hearts open, were real with their grief and fear, and came out joyful. Today, they focus on what they have instead of what they almost didn’t. I am sure there are concerns and challenges ahead. But they are walking obediently in joy and faith, trusting their Heavenly Father to enable them to meet those challenges.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Today, Aria is now 7 months old and weighs 14 pounds. She is thriving!

This spunky little girl is a sweet miracle.

If you have stumbled upon this photography website and blog space - Welcome!

I hope you will return for a visit from time to time.

When I asked a graphic designer to create a logo for my photography business I gave it a great deal of thought. I thought of going in several different directions. But in the end, I settled on a tree design.

Psalm 1 says that a man is blessed that delights in and meditates on God’s word. Verse 3 says “He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”

There is much sheep symbolism in the Bible. Most are familiar with Psalm 23. "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”

These images from scripture of trees, streams, and sheep, capture for me the feeling of God’s provision, protection, strength, rest…..

It is comforting to think of the Heavenly Shepherd watching over us, His beloved sheep. These mental images are refreshment for my soul. They remind me that our Heavenly Father loves and provides for us.

This photography business has been a labor of love, one step at a time. It really wasn’t a plan but a passion that has turned into a business. My heart overflows with gratefulness for the wonderful clients who have entrusted me with documenting their lives and to the family and friends who have supported, encouraged and frankly even pushed me down this path - to the birth of Kathy Acton Photography.

Follow your passion, the one God placed within you -
to reach your dreams. It is a journey not a destination.
